Your First Visit
Complimentary Initial Exam and Consultation
At your first appointment, you will be greeted by our receptionist and introduced to Dr. McTavish. You may wish to complete the online Health Questionnaire and patient information form before you arrive. During this initial visit, Dr. McTavish will look at your teeth and jaw alignment to determine if orthodontic treatment will be beneficial, and if so, whether now is the appropriate time to begin treatment. He will then review the initial findings with you and answer any questions you may have.
Your Second Visit: Diagnostic Records and Treatment Conference
Records include dental photographs, digital Panoramic and Cephalometric radiographic images, impressions of your teeth, and a bite registration. A complete set of orthodontic records is the Standard of Care, and is necessary for each patient in order to accurately determine the appropriate treatment. Dr. McTavish will discuss treatment options in detail at this appointment, including the estimated length of treatment and the treatment fee. A consultation letter will be sent to you and the dentist following a comprehensive review of the records.
If you prefer to begin treatment as soon as possible, you are welcome to combine the First and Second appointments and have records made at the initial visit. Treatment can begin that same day, or the patient can schedule to begin treatment.
Appointments
- Initial examination and consultation: 30 minutes
- Records and Treatment Conference (if not a part of the initial visit): 30 - 45 minutes
- Bonding: 90 minutes to 2 hours
- Adjustments: 15 minutes
We attempt to accommodate late arrivals into the schedule. However, patients arriving on time will be given priority.
